The Houghton Collection - Terms & Conditions of Sale
All orders are subject to the conditions set out below and, unless agreed by us in writing, these conditions will override any terms stipulated by the buyer.
The prices shown in the price list are subject to confirmation at time of order, due to variances in the cost of materials, and subject to VAT at the current rate. A certificate of shipping is required for goods to be sent abroad before VAT can be reimbursed. All prices are ex works.
Goods remain the property of The Houghton Collection until full payment is received.
All measurements given on the website and in the catalogue are approximate.
All delivery dates are intended as an estimate and we shall not be liable to make good any damage or loss arising out of delay in delivery.
We can arrange delivery using our own carriers or, alternatively, a carrier stipulated by the buyer. You may also be able to arrange collection.
Goods will leave the premises of The Houghton Collection in fine condition. Once goods have left the premises of The Houghton Collection, we cannot be held responsible for any damage occurring to the goods thereafter.
Shipping
For all items purchasable from the website shop (wallpaper and homeware), delivery charges will be calculated when you place your order, and you will see these before you checkout. If you then decide not to proceed, you can remove the items from your basket.
For furniture and Sassoon Loungers, please enquire about delivery charges. These are calculated based on the item/s and delivery address.
Shipping outside the UK
For shipments to destinations outside the UK, all applicable duties, fees and any additional charges for customs clearance are the customer’s responsibility.
Faulty goods
Please ensure you open and check your products within 24 hours of delivery. If you believe a product is faulty, please inform us by email, including photographs, to info@thehoughtoncollecction.com within 7 days. Failure to do so within this timeframe may result in us not being able to assist you in this matter. In the event that items purchased from us are agreed by The Houghton Collection to be faulty, on return (if requested) and after inspection, we will replace or remedy faulty items at no additional shipping charge.
If a return is required, we will advise regarding shipping arrangements.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any refunds. We will only replace items if we agree they are defective or damaged. We have a 7-day exchange policy from purchase.
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.
If your item gets lost due to an incorrect address being entered at checkout, we will ask that you pay for redelivery.
Exchanges are usually only available within the UK.
As furniture is handmade, all items differ slightly and may have some imperfections. We will not accept these as faulty goods.
The wallpaper is hand-painted and the colours are mixed by hand and matched by eye which means the batches do vary slightly.
Cancellation
We reserve the right to refuse cancellation on furniture, wallpaper and loungers. If cancellation is accepted, we shall be entitled either to deduct any costs incurred by us in connection with the order if payment has already been made or, if no payment has been made, to recover any costs and expenses from the buyer: cancellation will only be effective when the aforementioned costs and expenses are received by us.
Furniture, Wallpaper and Sassoon Loungers
For non-bespoke items, 50% of purchase price is required on confirmation of order and settlement in full prior to delivery on pro forma accounts. If account facilities are established, full payment must be made 30 days from the date of invoice. If the buyer fails to make payment on the due date, we shall be entitled to withhold delivery without prejudice to our right, and maintain an action against the buyer until all outstanding payments are received in full. Until all outstanding payments are received in full we will be entitled to recover interest at 4% above our bank rate. We may recover the goods from the buyer if the amount outstanding from the buyer exceeds the agreed credit limit, and for that purpose the buyer authorises us or our servants to enter on land where goods are situated.
Customised and bespoke orders require full payment before work can begin. This includes all Wallpaper.
Wallpaper
Full pre-payment is required for all wallpaper orders and production will not begin until this is received. The placing of an order by the customer, and the acceptance of such order, shall constitute a contract.
If any order is subsequently cancelled by the customer prior to delivery of the goods, the customer shall be liable to accept delivery of such goods as have been obtained or produced on their behalf, and to pay the agreed price for those goods, or, to pay a sum to be determined to compensate The Houghton Collection for any expense or loss incurred and relating to that order.
Any subcontractors’ costs arising from the hanging of goods subsequently deemed to be unfit by the client are not the responsibility of The Houghton Collection and no such claims will be entertained. No claims for faulty goods will be honoured after the goods have been cut or hung. We recommend ordering one additional roll to cover future repairs or under the quoting quantity required. The paper is hand painted and the colours are mixed by hand and matched by eye which means the batches do vary slightly. The Houghton Collection cannot accept returns of unused rolls.
The Sassoon Lounger
It is important to note when purchasing a Sassoon Lounger that, whilst practical, they are by their very nature fragile. The wheels are functional with careful use but otherwise decorative. We cannot stress enough that the loungers must be treated with the utmost care to ensure the longevity of the item. In particular the loungers must not get wet, damp or be left outside when not in use. They must be stored in dry, covered conditions. The Houghton Collection cannot be held liable for any damage or deterioration if the above care is not adhered to. Whilst we do not ship the loungers outside Mainland UK, if the buyer chooses to ship the item abroad, we cannot be held liable for any damages or deterioration that occurs after having left the UK, whether the damage or deterioration happen in transit or thereafter.
